Working together to build real life skills, our group based activities provide great opportunities for social interaction and personal development.
Our location in Sunbury provides the ideal base to experience local activities and those further afield.
All participants are encouraged and supported to have a say in how group based activities are run, with choice and control being a key tenet of our service. From enjoying a night out at the theatre, raising funds for an important cause, or developing cooking skills with our "Masterchef" program, you have the opportunity to enjoy a great variety of activities to suit your wants and needs.

What activities can I join?

Travel training
Learn to build upon your skills in using public transport to visit different venues.
Obtaining the skills and confidence towards being independent within the community like catching public transport and getting from A-B can be daunting. Where do you begin?
Our team at Distinctive Options will support you with increasing your independence through public transport training by facilitating programs that help you to learn public transports routes and community transport options. You’ll be off and travelling in no time.
Community Leaders
Plan and research as you work towards sharing advice on overcoming barriers as people with disabilities and getting around the community independently.
Talk to students at schools about overcoming barriers and sharing advice on networking with organizations and getting around the community independently.
Distinctive Options is proud to partner with various organisations and participate in events throughout the year. Both staff and participants give their time to help build a sense of inclusion and belonging. Networking and creating relationships within the community.
Rights Responsibilities Network
A Self-Advocacy group where you can share your opinions and ideas about D.O, the local community and more. Visitors sometimes attend to share about different organisations and opportunities.
First launched in 1998, R&R gives participants the opportunity to express their views and ideas, as well as raise and problem-solve any issues they have.
Agendas are tabled and minutes taken each week. The participants are responsible for running each meeting along with taking action on any items raised. Regular agenda items include networking, community events, health and wellbeing, safety and personal business. R&R members also provide feedback on organisational issues, including document review and strategic planning. Guest presenters from within the community also attend meetings to give participants the opportunity to ask questions and be educated on what is happening within their local communities.
