Group activities Bendigo

Working together to build real life skills, our group based activities provide great opportunities for social interaction and personal development.

Our facilities are located right in the centre of town, with easy and accessible access via public or private transport.

All participants are encouraged and supported to have a say in how group based activities are run, with choice and control being a key tenet of our service.

From going sailing on Lake Weeroona, to raising funds for an important cause, or playing in the local Balloon Football league, you have the opportunity to enjoy a great variety of activities to suit your wants and needs.

Healthy cooking and life skills

Skill building: Health and Hygiene, Safety, Food Handling, Shopping, Budgeting, Money handling, Following recipes, Utensil knowledge and practice, Stove/ Oven/ Microwave usage, Multi-cultural influences

Pop Culture comics

Use literacy and tech skills to create comics and storyboards of your favourite pop culture which could be anything from superheroes to Pixar or Disney characters.

Sports - lawn bowls, netball and Sailability

Learn skills whilst engaging in community whilst playing sport activities with peers. Enjoy sailing on Lake Weroona when Sailability is running.

Advocacy and budgeting SARU Meetings

SARU (Seld Advocacy Resource Unit – Externally ran meetings with SARU group at Bendigo Library to learn self-advocacy skills and to have input in community issues for people with a disability.

Event planning, art and craft

Planning and running upcoming events and creation of various art projects.

Sports - swimming

Swimming at local swimming centres or pools. Learning water safety and water skills.

Digital Art and literacy

Digital Art using computers, ipads and promethean screen to complete projects. Use literacy and tech skills.

Train adventures

Visit local and regional areas via train to build travel training skills and visit local and regional food outlets and cafes.

Virtual Reality relaxation and meditation

Food cart and donation creations

Collect morning tea orders and purchase beverages and snacks. Create art and craft items to raise funds for chosen charities including local animal shelters and welfare groups.

Community engagement and volunteering

Volunteering at Long Gully Garden, looking after DO garden plot and Bunnings DIY workshops. Travel training.

Nature art and photography

Local bushwalking, bird watching, visiting local and regional parks, scavenger hunts, fishing and creating art and photography using material found in nature. Using professional cameras and ipads.

Build social skills and meaningful friendships by friendly competition playing billiards at local venues and lunch outings.

Enjoy your favourite tunes with our music activity.

Extended hours' activities

Extended hours activities are fun events that happen on weekends and week nights. Such as going to see a theatre show in the city, trips to the zoo, go-karting, movie nights and many more.
